Inpatient Collection:  Deliver to the Laboratory

Outpatient Collection:  Centrifuge specimen before transport to the Laboratory.  If specimen is received unspun greater than 4 hours after collection, Glucose and Potassium will be cancelled.

Specimen Volume:

1.0 mL

Stat Turn-around Time

1 hour from specimen arrival in the Laboratory

Routine Turn-around Time

Inpatients: 4 hours from specimen arrival in the Laboratory

Outpatients:  24 hours from specimen arrival in the Laboratory
