Important Note

The CA 125 assay is not recommended as a screening test for cancer, but rather as an aid in monitoring response to therapy for patients with epithelial ovarian cancer. Serial testing for patients CA 125 assay values should be used in conjunction with other methods used for monitoring ovarian cancer.

Do not interpret levels of CA 125 as absolute evidence of the presence or the absence of malignant disease.

CA 125 antigen levels in a given specimen determined with assays from different manufacturers can vary and cannot be used interchangeably.
