Specimen Handling Instructions
When using a butterfly draw a red top tube and discard, then proceed to draw a light blue top tube.
Collection Tube MUST be filled completely. Gently invert the tube 3 to 4 times immediately after collection to ensure proper mixing of blood and anticoagulant.
Deliver to the lab as soon as possible.
If unable to deliver to the laboratory within the listed room temperature stability timeframe:
Centrifuge the light blue top tube and transfer plasma to an appropriately labeled plastic vial
Label vial PLASMA and Freeze immediately
