Specimen Handling Instructions

Inpatient Collection:  Protect from light.  Deliver to the Laboratory

Outpatient Collection:  Protect from light. Centrifuge specimen before transport to the Laboratory.  Once spun, it is advisable to transport specimen in original collection tube to ensure specimen integrity.

1 hour from specimen arrival in the Laboratory

Routine Turn-around Time:

Inpatients: 4 hours from specimen arrival in the Laboratory

Outpatients:  24 hours from specimen arrival in the Laboratory
