Important Note

Not recommended for diagnosing diabetes mellitus.

2.0 mL serum or plasma; 1.1 mL minimum

SST (gold top serum separator tube) or Plain Red

EDTA or K2EDTA are also acceptable

Unacceptable: Heparinized specimens, sodium flouride/ poassium oxalate specimens, hemolyzed specimens.

Transfer 2.0mL serum or plasma to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube and freeze.

Stability: Ambient 8 hours; refrigerated 1 week; frozen 1 month.

Freeze specimen. Seperate specimens must be submited for multiple tests.
