Screens for Giardia and Cryptosporidium antigen only. This test is the most appropriate O&P option for patients WITHOUT a travel history to parasitic endemic areas, non-immunocompromised patients and patients who have not recently immigrated. In order to adequately rule out a parasitic infection, it is recommended that three separate stool samples be provided on three consecutive days. This test should not be ordered on patients in a hospital setting who have been admitted > 3 days without consulting infection prevention.
