Preferred Specimen

Serum (SST)

Plasma (Sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate - Gray Top) is recommended if removal from cells will be delayed.

Collect fasting, 1 hour, 2 hour, 3 hour and 4 hour specimens.

Serum and Plasma samples should be centrifuged and removed from cells as soon as possible but no longer then 4 hours from collection.
