Two 3 mL whole blood lavender (EDTA) and one 5 mL plain red tube preferred. SST acceptable.
Specimen Handling Instruction
Fill out and send special URMC Lab requisition for HLA testing. Indicate diagnosis.
Deliver to RGH Specimen Processing Department.
Do not order with HLA Full Typing Stem Cell. HLA Full Typing Stem Cell includes HLA Class I Typing for Platelets.
Transport
Send original draw tubes at ambient temperature.
Cut Off Time
Stability is 72 hours from collection to testing for EDTA lavender tubes.
