Collection Notes: | Tissue or fluid, sputum, bronchial wash and bronchoalveolar lavages must be submitted in sterile container. Brain biopsy, swab, vesicular fluid or scraping should be submitted in UTM (Viral Transport Media). Do not use calcium alginate swabs. Note source on test requisition. HSV may not be isolated from lesions 5 days after onset. For herpes typing, please order ACM test code: 0589. |
