NOTE: The tourniquet must be removed from the patients arm prior to collection of Lactic Acid.

Inpatient Collection: Place specimen on ice and deliver to lab immediately. Fill tube at least half full.

Outpatient Collection: Centrifuge, separate plasma and freeze immediately. Fill tube at least half full.

Inpatients: 1 hour from specimen arrival in the Laboratory.

Inpatients: 4 hours from specimen arrival in the Laboratory.

Outpatients: 24 hours from specimen arrival in the Laboratory.
