SPECIMEN COLLECTION REQUIREMENTS
Collection Container: A sterile container or preserved, in 10% formalin or EcoFix within 24 hours of collection
Specimen: Stool
Collection Notes: Recommended for foreign travel (include relevant travel history on requisition), recent immigrants or immunocompromised patients. For routine O&P screening, please order test 10382 (Giardia/Cryptosporidium Screening).
Transport Temperature: refrigerated transport preferred(2-8oC); ambient (15-30oC)
Specimen Volume: Preferred Volume: 10 gram or 5 mL; Minimum Volume: 10 grams or 5 mL
Also Acceptable: Raw stool in a sterile container.

No ova or parasites seen on Trichrome stain and Iodine Wet Mount.

Notes:

Storage Conditions: ambient (15-30oC); refrigerated (2-8oC);

Includes Trichrome stain. Does NOT include Cyclospora or Enterobius Vermicularis, pinworm (test # 9802). These tests must be ordered separately with different specimen types. In order to adequately rule out a parasitic infection, it is recommended that three separate stool samples be provided on three consecutive days.
