Test Code TVMG Trichomonas vaginalis/Mycoplasma genitalium PCR Assay

Preferred Specimen

Sample Type: endocervical or vaginal swabs or unpreserved(neat) first catch urine transferred to Cobas media within 24 hours

Collection Tube: 

For women: Endocervical or vaginal swab collected with cobas® PCR Media Dual Swab Sample Kit.  

For men and women: First catch urine collected with the cobas® PCR Urine Sample Kit.

Specimen Handling Instructions

Transport Conditions: All swabs can be transported in a cobas® PCR media tube and urine can be transported in the sterile container or a cobas PCR media tube at 2-30oC

Storage Conditions: 2-30oC

Sample Stability

All swabs and urine samples are good for up to 12 months at  2-30°C once the specimens have been stabilized in cobas® PCR media.            

 Frozen samples are not acceptable.
