Notes: | Samples that are not preserved will be canceled if received after 24 hours of collection. Contact the lab if urine preservative tubes are needed. Additional tests may be performed based on primary test results. An additional fee may be charged. |
Urine screen will reflex to microscopic if any of the following results are obtained:
- Clarity is not clear
- Hgb(blood) is > trace
- Protein is > 30
- Nitrite is positive
- Leukocyte esterase is> trace
Urine screen will reflex to culture if:
- The biochemical screen reflexes to a microscopic based on the USCR above criteria AND
- WBCs= greater than or equal to10/hpf or are clumped
- Bacteria are present
Children from birth – 12 years have additional rules to reflex to culture based on the macroscopic findings
- BLD: Trace, Small, Moderate, Large
- LEU: Trace, Small, Moderate, Large
- NIT: POS
