Sample Type: Acceptable specimen type is CSF or swab samples collected from herpetic cutaneous and mucocutaneous lesions
 
Collection Tube: CSF sterile tube,All others BD UVT, Remel M4, Remel M4RT, Remel M5, Remel M6 or UTM transport media.
 *Do not use calcium alginate swabs, as they may contain substances that inhibit PCR testing

Transport Conditions: refrigerated  (2-8oC)
